Restoration Ride 2017
Saturday, March 18, 2017
Thanks for your support of the 2017 event! If you are looking for the 2018 event the registration is now open and can be found HERE.
Restoration Ride is a non competitive cycling event, being held in order to raise money for the restoration and daily operation of the Kymulga Grist Mill and Park. This is one of the oldest historical landmarks in Talladega County and sits on the Talladega Creek in Alpine, Al, just outside of Childersburg. Built in 1864, the Mill was damaged by flood waters a few yrs ago, and while its still intact, it needs structural repairs to make it safe for visitors to actually go inside the mill, store and post office. Visitors can now enter the ground floor of the mill, view the equipment, hear the history and story of the mill, cross the covered bridge, enjoy the walking / cycling trails. fish in the Talladega Creek, camp in the RV and primitive camping areas, and enjoy some great cycling from the mill.
On event day, we provide a home cooked breakfast consisting of scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, biscuits, and home style potatos, all cooked on site and served hot and fresh to riders prior to leaving out on either a 33 or 68 mile ride. Ride is fully supported with rest stops, SAG support and medical support, linked together by the Southern Link radio network! State and local law enforcement personnel are on course ensuring a safe ride for all!
On site registration opens at 6:00am CST on event day. Breakfast is served from 6:00am CST to 7:15am CST. Breakfast will consist of scrambled eggs, homestyle potatos, biscuits, sausage, bacon, gravy. Riders depart from Gristmill @ 8:00am CST.
